Her nickname is Barnetty! She was born in Denver and grew up in the Boulder area. Her hero is Ani DiFranco because she is an outspoken entertainer.
She obtained a BS in Marine Biology from Hawaii Pacific University, and moved home to Colorado to go to veterinary school at Colorado State University in 2005. Dr. Barnett has been practicing small animal medicine in Denver since graduating in 2009. She became a certified veterinary acupuncturist, and loves being able to offer this type of physical medicine as a treatment modality.
She is owned by her giant boxer Walter. The saying that exemplifies her life is “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are” (by Joseph Campbell).
What Dr. Barnett likes most about her job is getting to know people through their relationships with their pets, and treating chronic pain.
She enjoys running mountains, camping, yoga, and scuba diving. She plays the violin and loves live music, especially if it is outdoors.
