Dr. Hazelwood earned the nickname of "Doogie" because she was the youngest member of her veterinary class at a time when Doogie Howser MD was a popular television show. She grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and attended Colorado State University for both her undergraduate work and to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. At home Dr. Hazelwood lives with her husband, Scott, her German Shepherd Dog, Pete, her Rottweiler, Ellie Maye and her two cats, Emmy and Scout. When asked about what she likes about her job, Dr. Hazelwood says that she loves that she can meet so many new animals and people. She loves being able to find out what is wrong with an animal--especially since they cannot tell her what is wrong. Seeing a sick cat finally eat is a joy to her. |
